How a channel works
Your library is already a channel.
FAST channels use the videos you have already uploaded and transcoded in Onveo. No second copy and no separate playout vendor.
Build it from a playlist
Drag videos into the order you want. The channel plays the list and starts again at the end, around the clock.
Start, stop and watch it
Run every channel from one page. See its state and stream health, preview the output and read its logs.
Embed it or hand it off
Each channel gets an embed code and an HLS stream URL for your website, apps or distribution partners.
Where your channel runs
Google Cloud. Our account, yours, or your own servers.
FAST playout runs on Google Cloud Run. You decide whose account it runs in — per channel.
Onveo Cloud
The default. The channel runs in Onveo's Google Cloud project. Nothing to set up.
Bring your own cloud (BYOC)
Connect your own Google Cloud project from the dashboard. Channels run in your account, under your policies, and compute is billed to you.
On-premise
Keep playout inside your own data centre. The playout engine is a container; we install it on your servers together with your team.
FAST playout runs on Google Cloud only. Other public clouds are not available.

Which clouds can I use?
FAST playout runs on Google Cloud Run — in Onveo's project or in your own (BYOC). If playout must stay inside your own data centre, we install it on your servers.
What do I need for BYOC?
A Google Cloud project with the Cloud Run API enabled and a service account key with Cloud Run admin rights. The user guide lists every field.
Can I schedule programmes by time?
Not yet. Today a channel loops its playlist in the order you set. Time-based schedules are on our roadmap.
How many channels can I run?
Each account has a limit on channels running at the same time. Talk to us to raise it.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of channels and where they run. With BYOC, Google bills the compute to your account. Contact us for a quote.
